Friday evening May 18 through Friday morning May 25
(Australia/New Zealand Saturday 19 May through Friday 25 May)
Welcome to the weekly guide to all known Doctor Who broadcasts around the world.
Outpost Gallifrey http://www.gallifreyone.com/ has received a somewhat more believable explanation for BBC America's http://www.bbcamerica.com/ decision to drop Doctor Who than the one that was on BBC America's web site. BBC America has told Outpost Gallifrey that the revenue from the commercials in Doctor Who were less than BBC America hoped for. BBC America is still airing Doctor Who Monday through Thursday at 8AM Eastern and Tuesday through Friday at 5AM Eastern, but will discontinue airing the series in July.
KTEH 54 in San Jose, CA http://www.kteh.org/ is still running its poll to find out the most popular episode from each Doctor for their June marathon. Details on the website. All votes must arrive by e-mail or traditional mail by June 1st. This marathon will celebrate 20 years of Doctor Who on KTEH.
WCET 48 in Cincinnati, OH http://www.wcet.org/ achieved the rare feat of pleasing fans by not airing the advertised episodes. The scheduled episodes for May 12 were The Ribos Operation episodes 2+3. However, due to a change in the dates of a recent auction, they had not yet aired The Invasion of Time episode 6 and The Ribos Operation episode 1. According to a fan watching WCET, they aired Invasion Of Time episode 6 and episode 1 of Ribos Operation on the 12th after all, making their posted schedules wrong, and avoiding missing any episodes. So, thanks to WCET for airing the wrong episodes, and by doing so airing the right episodes.
The Interstellar Transmissions radio program in West Palm Beach, FL quietly expanded to 2 hours recently, with a new start time of 10:05PM EDT. Yours truly will be a guest on that show this weekend during an all-Doctor Who night. I will be taking part in a roundtable discussion with Charles Martin and show host Joey Reynolds about the 1996 TV Movie, and why it did not succeed on FOX. Last I heard, the archived broadcasts were getting to the live365 website 10 days after they are first broadcast, so people outside Florida should be able to hear this installment beginning May 30.
Additions and corrections are welcome at bfelliott@... , bfelliott@... , or bfelliott3 on AOL IM. And now, the listings:

Sun 8:05-10AM BST The Robots of Death movie
An allegory and attack on communism. With the robots as the huddled masses, the human crew as their borgeoisie oppressors, and Taran Capel as Lenin, the leader proclaiming communism while really controlling the gang in secret. Now, do the Doctor and Leela represent Stalin, Trotsky, or Ronald Reagan's threat to deploy SDI? I haven't figured out that bit yet.
EUROPE/AFRICA/ASIA:

Late Fri 1AM*, Sat 3:30PM, Sun 11:30AM CET Terminus ep 1 of 4

Sun 7AM, Late Sun 1AM AEST The Sun Makers all 4 eps
There are two constants in the universe - death and taxes. In the telemovie, the 8th Doctor tried to turn back death. In this story, the 4th Doctor tries to turn back taxes. The story least loved by tax lawyers.

The search for the 4th segment of the Key To Time brings the Doctor and Romana into a land where the peasants run the computers and the gentry play with swords and chivalry. And dopplegangers shall inherit the kingdom.
Fri 11:30PM AEST The Power of Kroll ep 1 of 4
What is the mighty Kroll? Why is it so worshiped by those guys in green? The most watched story of season 16 begins.
Prime TV New Zealand http://www.tetrap.com/drwho/nzdwfc/

Sun 6PM Destiny of the Daleks ep 4 of 4
Last rerun in 1988. The Daleks are racing to destroy the Movellans. The Movellans are racing to destroy the Daleks. And the Doctor must destroy both of them at the same time, to keep either side from leaving Skaro with Davros.
Mon-Thu 6PM City of Death eps 1 - 4 of 4
Last rerun in 1988. Written by Douglas Adams under the pen name DavidAgnew. The Doctor and Romana vacation in Paris, where an evil mastermind plots to steal the Mona Lisa and travel back in time. Fortunately, he's not in a hurry, so you get to enjoy the Paris scenery along the way.
Fri 6PM The Creature from the Pit ep 1 of 4
Last rerun in 1988. The TARDIS receives a distress call - from an egg shell. A very big egg shell. What was in that shell, anyway? DavidBrierly joins the cast as the new voice of K9.

Late Sat Mid EDT The Aztecs movie (The Temple Of Evil, The Warriors Of Death, The Bride Of Sacrifice, The Day Of Darkness)
Barbara is mistaken for an Aztec god. The Doctor fears that power corrupts, and that Barbara might try to use her influence to stop the Aztecs from sacrificing humans, which would alter their culture to the point that it might not be wiped out by the Spanish. This would create a devastating change to human history. Neighboring tribes to the Aztecs, who made up most of the people being slaughtered as sacrifices, probably would not have shared the Doctor's concern.
WUSF 16 Tampa, FL http://www.wusftv.usf.edu/
Sat 11:45PM EDT The Greatest Show in the Galaxy ep 2 of 4
The Doctor and Ace are expected to perform before the Psychic Circus. If you're lousy, you die quickly. If you're entertaining, you die slowly. And they wonder why most of their acts are so terrible?

Key To Time's Log: Stardate - Infinity past teatime. "Well, the Doctor has found two of my pieces. I have signaled the tracer to take the Doctor to Earth. KTEH 54 San Jose, CA http://www.kteh.org/
Sun 11PM PDT The Mind Robber movie
Patrick Troughton at his wildest. The TARDIS travels outside of time to escape a lava flow, and straight into a land of fiction. Where the slightest suggestion can alter the flow of reality, not even Jamie's face may be safe from alteration. With unusually short episodes, this 5 part story lasts the same length as most 4 part stories. Hang on for the ride.
